Kolkata, Oct. 20 -- Bengal was enveloped in a radiant celebration today as Kali Puja and Diwali coincided, transforming the state into a symphony of lights, colours and cultural fervour.

The twin festivals provided a sparkling sequel to the grand Durga Puja celebrations earlier this month, the region's most awaited socio-religious carnival.

Across Kolkata and surrounding districts, new pandals sprang up today, while in many neighborhoods, Durga Puja installations were repurposed and redecorated to welcome Goddess Kali.

The air was thick with the scent of sweets, incense and fireworks. People from different communities including Bengalis, Marwaris, Gujaratis and Biharis, mingled effortlessly, celebrating the festival.
