Darjeeling, Feb. 14 -- A grand flag hoisting ceremony and inauguration of the Flag Mast was held at Batasia War Memorial here in West Bengal on Friday to pay glowing tributes to the brave soldiers, including Gorkhas, who laid down their lives to protect India's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
State Governor CV Ananda Bose led the ceremony along with GOC Lt Gen Zubin A Minwalla, and present and former military and civil officials and soldiers.
The solemn ceremony was organised by the Zila Sainik Board, Darjeeling, with support from the Indian Army, as the event symbolised the nation's enduring gratitude and respect for its defenders.
