Kolkata, Nov. 28 -- The West Bengal government today announced a sweeping reshuffle in the state police administration, transferring 40 police officers, including 14 senior IPS officers in the rank of SP, five junior IPS officers serving as Additional SPs and SDPOs, and 21 West Bengal Police Service (WBPS) officers.
The Home and Hill Affairs Department said the orders take immediate effect.
One of the most notable changes is the transfer of Purba Medinipur SP Soumyadip Bhattacharya, who was recently named by Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari in a complaint alleging that the officer was acting at the behest of the ruling Trinamool Congress.
