Kolkata, July 9 -- With Bengal recording 986 new confirmed Covid-19 cases till yesterday, taking the tally to 24,823, and the toll jacking up to 827, the State Government has decided to clamp complete shutdown in containment zones and buffer zones from 5 PM today.

The lockdown will be in force for seven days and extended if necessary.

Ultadanga, Phoolbagan, Kankurgachi, Hudco, Beliaghata, Bhowanipore, Alipore, Bijoygarh, Jadavpur, New Alipore, Kasba, Mukundapur, and Ajaynagar are among the 33 containment zones in the city.

The 219 containment zones in North 24 Parganas include areas of Rajarhat, Swarupnagar, Hasnabad, places under the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation, Bongaon, Dum Dum, Habra, Halisahar, Barrackpore, Barasat and ...
