HEALTH-LEAD BENGAL-GUV

Kolkata, April 21 -- West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose was admitted to the Military Command Hospital in the city on Monday morning after he complained of chest pain and a bit of numbness on his left hand, official sources said.

He was taken to the ICU and was given oxygen support to ease his pain at the Command Hospital in south Kolkata where medical tests revealed three cardiac blockages. He initially underwent an ECG test and angiogram to determine his heart condition.

Sources said the medics are contemplating a by-pass surgery because inserting stents may not help for his full recovery at the age of 74.

They said the Governor might be shifted to a private hospital if a by-pass surgery was required.
