Kolkata, Sept. 5 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today paid homage to former President Sarvepally Radhakrishnan to mark his birth anniversary, also greeting the teaching community as the day is observed as Teachers' Day to honour the philosopher, who served the highest office of the country from 1962 to 1967.
"Today is Teachers' Day to mark the birth anniversary of former President Sarvepally Radhakrishnan and I pay my homage to him," Banerjee said in a message.
Banerjee greeted the teaching community, saying they are the makers of the new generation. She said on the eve of Teachers' Day yesterday evening, the government honoured both teachers and students at Dhono Dhanno auditorium.
