Kolkata, Feb. 24 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced a salary hike for the doctors of state-owned hospitals and the lifting of the suspension of 12 junior doctors of the Medinipur Medical College and Hospital.
Addressing the medics at the Dhana Dhanya Auditorium in Alipur, Banerjee announced the salary hike for all ranks of doctors from interns to seniors ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 and above.
For the Diploma senior resident doctor's salary was hiked to Rs 80,000 from the existing Rs 65,000, for postgraduate senior resident doctors to Rs 85,000 from Rs 70,000, and up to Rs 100,000 for senior postgraduate senior resident doctors per month.
