Kolkata, April 13 -- BJP Lok Sabha member from West Bengal's Purulia district Jyotirmay Singh Mahato on Sunday urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to declare some areas in some select border districts affected by anti Waqf Act protesters as disturbed areas under the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 to restore normalcy and instill confidence of the Hindus.

In a letterto Shah, Mamato alleged that repeated communal attacks were orchestrated in the bordering Murshidabad district. He said scores of homes were set on fire, shops looted, police were attacked, Police vehicles were burnt and stones pelted at police personnel.
