Kolkata, Oct. 13 -- West Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata this morning after his health deteriorated due to prolonged fever.

Party sources said Bhattacharya had been running high temperature for the past several days, but continued to attend party programmes despite his illness.

According to sources close to the leader, he began feeling weak this morning, following which he was taken to a hospital near the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass and admitted for treatment.

Doctors are monitoring his condition and have reportedly advised rest.

BJP functionaries said Bhattacharya had been unwell for nearly a week. Despite taking prescribed medication, his fever did not subside.
