Kolkata, Sept. 27 -- Notwithstanding the threat of the rains playing spoilsport, 'the city of joy' as also the rest of West Bengal is in the grips of a festive fervour to welcome eastern India's grandest socio-cultural carnival Durga Puja from tomorrow in a blaze of light, colour and music.

The five-day festival, beyond its rituals and revelry, provides a perfect setting where faith and creativity entwine, as millions flood the streets from the districts, other states, and even abroad.

With more than 3,000 community Pujas in the city and over 40,000 across the state, the festival has over the decades emerged as one of the world's largest public art shows.
