Kolkata, March 9 -- Two Trinamool Congress (TMC) activists, including the ruling party's trade union leader Vikash Singh, have been wounded in a shootout at Belgharia, the outskirts of this city in North 24 Parganas, on Saturday night, official sources said on Sunday.

Singh, the trade union leader at Texmaco, sustained bullet wounds on his stomach and was undergoing a major surgery at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in north Kolkata early this morning.

Police and eyewitnesses said three motorcycle-borne gunmen wearing helmets shot several rounds from a close range in Belgharia's Uttar Basudebpur on Saturday night.
