Kolkata, Sept. 12 -- The owner of a rehabilitation centre at Uttarpara in West Bengal's Hooghly district was bludgeoned to death allegedly by two inmates following a dispute over denying them leave to go home during the coming Durga Puja, official sources said today.
The inmates, now on the run, allegedly used a "nora" (a stone grinder typically used for making spice paste) as the murder weapon to kill Madan Rana (40), the owner of the rehabilitation centre.
Sources said the stone pestle was used to smash the head of the owner.
The accused allegedly had heated arguments with the owner last night after the latter refused to allow them to go home during the coming Durga Puja.
