Kolkata, Feb. 4 -- The deadline for 15 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and 10 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers from West Bengal to reach New Delhi for a training programme for central election observers appointed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to lapse on Wednesday.
The situation unfolds amid an ongoing tussle between the state administration and the poll panel, with the West Bengal government objecting to several officers named by the Commission and proposing substitutes, while the ECI has remained firm on its original selections.
