London, Sept. 9 -- England received a timely boost ahead of their much-anticipated Ashes tour to Australia, with news that Test skipper Ben Stokes has resumed training following a shoulder injury.

Stokes, who has been sidelined since the fourth Test against India in Manchester in July, returned to batting in the nets for his county side Durham. This development has allayed concerns that the experienced all-rounder might miss the opening Test in Perth on November 21.
