Belagavi, March 24 -- A restaurant owner in Hukkeri town of Belagavi district allegedly committed suicide due to mounting debt and financial distress, with a reported shortage of commercial LPG cylinders worsening his situation.

The deceased, identified as Rama Hulluri, was running Hanuman Hotel near the old bus stand in Hukkeri.

According to police, he had kept his eatery shut for several days owing to the non-availability of commercial gas cylinders, which severely affected his income.

Preliminary investigation suggests that Hulluri was under significant financial strain and was struggling to repay loans and mounting interest.
