Hyderabad, Nov. 25 -- Several BC organisations have raised strong objections to the allocation of reserved seats in the recently announced Gram Panchayat elections, alleging that Backward Classes have been "severely deprived" of their rightful share.
The leaders said that BC reservations, earlier at 42 per cent, have now been reduced to 22 per cent, and in many districts, the allocation has not even touched 10 per cent.
BC leaders pointed out serious discrepancies in multiple districts. In Nagarkurnool, only 61 of 460 sarpanch posts were allotted to BCs, while in Kotapalli mandal of Mancherial district, not a single one of the 31 gram panchayats received BC reservation.
