Lucknow, May 6 -- Banking Correspondent Sakhi scheme has empowered rural women and transformed banking in Uttar Pradesh by bringing financial services right to the villagers' doorsteps, official sources said here on Tuesday.

Sources said that under the scheme, 50,192 women have been trained to deliver doorstep banking in the state, of which 39,561 are actively serving villages, boosting both financial access and women's employment.

Sources said that these women have collectively facilitated transactions worth Rs 31,626 crore, earning a combined commission of Rs 85.81 crore.
