Hyderabad, Jan. 4 -- Former Chairman of the Telangana State Backward Classes Commission Vakulabharanam Krishna Mohan Rao on Sunday said that the absence of adequate political representation for Backward Classes (BCs), despite their numerical majority, has emerged as a serious flaw in the democratic system.

Speaking as the chief guest at a meeting organised by the BC Caste Associations Joint Forum at the Somajiguda Press Club, Dr Krishna Mohan Rao asserted that political power for BCs was not a matter of charity but could be achieved only through organised and collective struggle. He said that unless the numerical strength of BCs was translated into decision-making power, marginalisation would continue.
