Hyderabad, Aug. 12 -- Rajya Sabha member and National Backward Class Welfare Association President R Krishnaiah on Tuesday announced that BC associations will organise a "BCs' Conference" called Yudda Bheri at Ravindra Bharathi on August 31 to press for 42 per cent reservation in local bodies.

Krishnaiah said BCs would continue their agitation until the quota is secured through legislation, stressing that mere allocation of party tickets would not benefit the community. He accused the Congress government of evading responsibility despite its Kamareddy declaration promise and called on it to exercise its constitutional powers to increase BC reservations.
