Krishnanagar, March 2 -- The Department of Folklore at the University of Kalyani celebrated Basanta Utsav with colour, music and cultural performances on Monday, marking the advent of spring on the eve of Dolyatra.

The programme reflected Bengal's rich folk traditions and brought together students, scholars and faculty members in a vibrant academic-cultural gathering.

Coinciding with the celebration, the traditional Satima fair of the Kartabhaja religious community (an eclectic Bengali tantric tradition with historical and doctrinal connections to Sahejya Vaishnavism and Sufism) began at nearby Ghoshpara, a sacred site located adjacent to the university campus, adding to the festive spirit in the area.
