Buenos Aires, March 8 -- Former Paraguay manager Guillermo Barros Schelotto is set to take charge of Argentine top-flight club Velez Sarsfield, according to widespread media reports.
The 51-year-old agreed to a two-year contract following several days of negotiations in Buenos Aires, news outlet TyC Sports reported.
It added that Barros Schelotto's backroom staff would include his brother, Gustavo, and Federico Insua. Velez's head coaching role became vacant on Monday, when Sebastian Dominguez was sacked amid a poor run of results.
The Buenos Aires outfit is currently last in Group B of Argentina's Primera Division Apertura tournament with just five points from nine games.
