Doha, Nov. 23 -- Barbara Brocolli has officially confirmed that her long-planned feature adaptation of "Othello" will be filmed in the Gulf nation in autumn 2026, marking her first major project since stepping back from the "James Bond" franchise.

The cinematic adaptation has secured substantial financial support in Qatar.

David Oyelowo, Rachel Brosnahan and Cynthia Erivo are set to star in the film, with Oyelowo also down to direct. Broccoli unveiled the development during the three-day Industry Days programme in Doha, organised by the Film Committee at Media City in collaboration with the Doha Film Institute, where she appeared alongside producer Nicky Bentham and an unannounced but warmly welcomed Oyelowo.
