Hassan, Aug. 26 -- Hitting back at critics questioning her selection to inaugurate the Mysuru Dasara festivities, writer and Booker Prize awardee Banu Mushtaq today threw a direct challenge: only those who have contributed to Kannada as much as she has have the right to criticise her.
"Some are trying to cast doubt on my bond with Kannada. I tell them-love Kannada as much as I do, use it as much as I do, take it to the international stage as I have. I make foreigners read Kannada texts, and they marvel at it. If you achieve that, then you have the right to criticise me. Otherwise, your words have no clarity. Kannada will never abandon those who trust it- I am living proof," Mushtaq told reporters in Hassan.
