Kendrapara, Dec. 22 -- The ordeal of a cancer patient in Odisha has intensified after the State Bank of India (SBI) asked her to return excess money mistakenly credited to her account under the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF), funds she had already spent on chemotherapy treatment.
The 57-year-old patient, Kalpana Panda of Berhampur village in Garadpur block of Kendrapara district, is undergoing severe mental distress after the bank froze her account and threatened legal action for failing to return Rs 45,000.
Kalpana had applied for financial assistance through the Kendrapara district administration for her cancer treatment.
