Nagpur, Dec. 27 -- A Bangaluru-based woman and her son allegedly attempted suicide at a city hotel where they were staying, police said on Saturday, adding the son died, while the mother is undergoing treatment and her condition is reported to be critical.
The deceased has been identified as Suraj, while his mother's name is Jayanti, police said. Both are residents of Bengaluru and arrived in Nagpur recently. The incident came to light after hotel staff alerted the authorities.
According to preliminary information, Suraj had been married only a few months ago. His wife had died by suicide in Bengaluru on Thursday, police said.
Following her death, her relatives staged a protest outside a police station, alleging dowry harassment.
