Agartala, March 1 -- A Bangladeshi smuggler was killed, and a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan sustained serious injuries in a violent clash along the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura's Sepahijala on Friday night, an official said.
BSF claimed the on duty jawans had to open fire when the smugglers pelted stones targeting them during an attempt to smuggle sugar to Bangladesh in the darkness.
The deceased identified as Alamin, resident of Putia village of Comilla district in Bangladesh. His bullet riddled body was recovered inside border. He was taken to Bishalgarh sub-divisional hospital, where the attending medical officer declared him dead.
