Dhaka, Dec. 28 -- Bangladesh's newly formed National Citizen Party (NCP) and the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) have joined the Jamaat-e-Islami-led eight-party alliance, expanding it into a ten-party coalition.

The Jamaat-led alliance will be the main contender for power against the political grouping that the BNP will be fielding in the forthcoming elections slated to be held in February next year, as the Awami League has been banned from contesting in the polls by the caretaker government.
