Dhaka, July 16 -- The Bangladesh interim government has declared a one-day state mourning nationwide today, after it declared July 16 as 'July Martyr's Day.' The Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification in this regard yesterday.

According to the Cabinet Division, the day will be observed for the first time today. As part of the observance, national flags will be flown at half-mast at all government, semi-government, autonomous, and educational institutions, as well as at privately owned buildings and Bangladeshi missions abroad.

Special prayers will be offered at all mosques and other places of worship across the country today, in honour of the departed, as per The Daily Star.
