Dhaka, Feb. 26 -- Members from Bangladesh's Student Anti Discrimination Movement, which had spearheaded the July 2024 movement which led to the ouster of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, today launched a new organisation called 'Bangladesh Gonotantrik Chattra Songshod' (Bangladesh Democratic Student Union).
The launch of the new party, at the Madhur Canteen in Dhaka University, witnessed clashes between members of the new party and private university students who opposed its formation.
The protesting private university students demanded the inclusion of the July Movement coordinator Rifat Rashid in the committee, who they alleged was excluded. With Rashid's exclusion, there has been a divide among the student groups, as private universities...
