Dhaka, March 27 -- Bangladesh commemorated its Independence and National Day on Thursday with an impressive parade and aerial display held at the National Parade Square, located in the old airport area of the capital, the media reported on Friday.

This event was particularly significant as it marked the return of the celebrations after nearly 20 years.

According to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), President Mohammad Shahabuddin attended the programme as the chief guest and received the salute as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces.
