Dhaka, Oct. 1 -- Chief Advisor Md Yunus, while speaking about the upcoming national polls in Bangladesh, has suggested that the Awami League's legal status as a political party was open to restoration, though maintained that its activities along with all its affiliated groups will remain suspended for now.

The oldest and largest party in the country, AL is led by former PM Sheikh Hasina and was banned early this year.

"They (Awami League) remain valid as a party, but activities for the time being are suspended. Anytime it will be open," he said in a recent interview with news organisation Zeteo on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, reports Daily Star.
