Kochi, Dec. 25 -- The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has busted a major drug-smuggling racket operating on the Bangkok-Kerala route, seizing hydroponic weed worth Rs14.7 crore from Kerala's international airports and arresting four persons in two separate cases.
The seizures are part of the agency's intensified crackdown on narcotics trafficking under Operation Weed Out.
DRI officials from the Kozhikode Regional Unit intercepted an Indian passenger who arrived at Kozhikode International Airport from Bangkok on December 23, 2025.
A search of the passenger's baggage revealed 7.2 kg of hydroponic weed, valued at Rs 7.2 crore, which had been concealed as food packets in an attempt to evade detection.
