New Delhi, Dec. 29 -- Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Election Commission, alleging that a new and "opaque" voter verification exercise threatens the constitutional rights of people in West Bengal.
He asserted that the party would stand guard to prevent any genuine voter from being disenfranchised as the state moves towards the 2026 Assembly elections.
Addressing a virtual conference of TMC leaders, party workers and Booth Level Agents (BLAs), Banerjee accused what he described as "Bangla-Birodhi zamindari forces" of working "in tandem with the Election Commission" to undermine democratic rights in the state.
