Bhubaneswar, Aug. 23 -- The Balasore District POCSO Court today convicted a man for sexually assaulting his 10-year-old daughter and sentenced him to seven years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs.10,000.
The convict, Badal Singh, a resident of Basukhunta under Remuna police station in Balasore district, was found guilty under sections of the BNS and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to the prosecution, the survivor disclosed the abuse to her aunt, who lodged a complaint at Remuna police station on January 2. Singh was arrested the same day.
The prosecution relied on DNA analysis, forensic reports, and witness testimony to prove the charges.
