Varanasi, March 20 -- A local court late Thursday rejected the bail pleas of 14 suspects accused of holding 'iftar' in a boat in the Ganga and sent them to judicial custody.

The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) IX, Amit Yadav heard the case involving an incident where the accused consumed biryani during an Iftar party in the Ganga and subsequently threw the leftovers into the river.

Concurring with the arguments presented by the counsels for both the prosecution and the plaintiff, the court has summoned the criminal history records of the accused from the police station concerned. The next hearing is due March 23.
