London, Feb. 23 -- The 79th edition of the BAFTA Awards delivered one of the biggest surprises of the night as Robert Aramayo pulled off a major upset, winning Best Actor for 'I Swear'.

Aramayo took home the top acting honour for portraying real-life Tourette syndrome advocate John Davidson in the 1980s-set Scottish drama. His victory came over a formidable lineup of nominees including Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothee Chalamet, Ethan Hawke, Jesse Plemons, and Michael B. Jordan.

Visibly emotional while accepting the award, Aramayo admitted he was stunned by the win. Addressing his fellow nominees, he spoke about the surreal experience of being recognised alongside actors he has long admired.
