Patna, Sept. 16 -- Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary today announced that the state government has approved riverfront development and protective construction work along the Baduwa River in Shambhuganj block of Banka district.

Choudhary said here that the project, estimated to cost Rs 14.99 crore, will begin within the next ten days.

He underlined that the initiative is crucial both for flood control and for preserving the religious and cultural significance of the region.

The Baduwa River, which forms the boundary between Banka and Munger districts, poses an annual flood threat that endangers the Maa Durga temple and nearby villages.
