Wayanad, Aug. 19 -- A rare and heartwarming incident unfolded when a baby elephant, barely 10 months old, wandered into the Government Lower Primary (LP) school at Chekadi near Pulpally, a tribal hamlet on the forest fringe in Wayanad district.

The unusual visit of a baby elephant also went viral on social media today.

The calf entered the school premises through a gap in the broken compound wall shortly after the students' lunch break.

For nearly ten minutes, the tiny elephant roamed around the one-acre school compound - walking along the veranda, circling the ground, and even pausing in front of classrooms. The sight left the 115 students, most of them from tribal families, squealing with laughter and excitement.
