Ranchi, Feb. 26 -- Leader of Opposition and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the state government over the air ambulance incident in Chatra district, raising serious questions about the functioning of the service.

Marandi alleged that the air ambulance service, widely publicised by the government as a key welfare initiative, has come under scrutiny following the recent tragic incident.

He claimed that the company providing the service initially refused to extend the government subsidy, citing that the patient had over 30 per cent burn injuries, but later agreed to transport the same patient to Delhi after the fare was increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh.
