Hyderabad, Sept. 26 -- The Telangana government has appointed B Shivadhar Reddy, IPS, as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of the state.

He takes over from Dr Jitender, IPS, who retired upon attaining superannuation.

Shivadhar Reddy will also hold full additional charge of the post of Director General of Police (HoPF), Telangana, until further orders. The appointment orders were handed over to him by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Friday.

Born in Hyderabad and hailing from Tool-e-Kalan (Peddatundla) village in Ibrahimpatnam Mandal of Ranga Reddy district, Shivadhar Reddy completed his schooling and higher education in the city, graduating with an LLB from Osmania University.
