Azamgarh, Sept. 26 -- In a major development following the brutal murder of a 7-year-old boy in Azamgarh, police on Thursday evening carried out an encounter in which two accused were shot and injured. The accused, identified as Shailendra Kumar Nigam alias Mantu and his brother Raja Nigam, were both hit in the legs and have been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
The encounter took place near the Dental College in the Itoura area under the Sidhari police station limits. According to the police, the suspects opened fire upon seeing the police team, prompting retaliatory action. Shailendra was shot twice, while Raja sustained one gunshot wound.
