Ayodhya, Jan. 16 -- As Ayodhya continues to witness a steady rise in pilgrims and tourists from across the country, the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has taken a focused step to strengthen community-led tourism by empowering local boatmen along the Saryu.

Recognising boatmen as an integral part of Ayodhya's traditional livelihood and visitor experience, the department has launched a three-day specialised training programme from January 15 for nearly 60 boatmen engaged in river navigation. The training programme, being held at Hotel Saket in Ayodhya, is designed to equip boatmen with modern skills while preserving their traditional role.
