Bhubaneswar, Sept. 3 -- The Ayushman Vaya Vandana Yojana (AVVY) has emerged as a major step towards universal healthcare for senior citizens in Odisha, officials said today.

The scheme has become a boon and a savior for elderly and retired people across the state, irrespective of their economic background. It is rapidly gaining popularity, from the capital city to the remotest villages.

According to official data, around 5.82 lakh senior citizens from 5.33 lakh families have registered under the scheme within just five months, up to the end of August 2025.
