Ranchi, Sept. 30 -- Avinash Kumar, a 1993-batch IAS officer of the Jharkhand cadre, has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Jharkhand.
He assumes charge following the retirement of Alka Tiwari, who has been nominated to the State Election Commission by the Chief Minister.
Kumar, previously serving as Additional Chief Secretary in the Energy Department, will also hold additional charge as Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister and Principal Resident Commissioner of Jharkhand Bhawan in New Delhi.
The appointment was formalized through an order issued by Under Secretary Vinod Kumar today under the direction of the Governor.
