Beijing, July 9 -- The average life expectancy in China has increased to 79 years, Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) Zheng Shanjie said on Wednesday.
"Average life expectancy has reached 79 years, having increased by one year every five years from the 12th (2011-2015) to the 14th (2021-2025) five-year period," Zheng Shanjie told reporters.
The Healthy China 2030 action plan, revealed in 2016, stipulates that average life expectancy in the country should increase from 76.34 to 79 years by 2030. Premature mortality from serious chronic conditions in China should be reduced by 30% compared to 2015.
