Shimla, May 1 -- An avalanche near 'Dared Nala' on the Udaipur-Kilad road in Lahaul-Spiti late Wednesday night brought traffic to a standstill, cutting off Pangi Valley from the rest of Himachal Pradesh.

Over a dozen vehicles, including two Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) buses, remain stranded on either side of the blocked stretch. Border Roads Organisation (BRO) teams have been rushed with heavy machinery to clear the route.

Meanwhile, the state is bracing for another spell of inclement weather with the India Meteorological Department forecasting rain and thunderstorms across Himachal Pradesh over the next week.
