Kolkata, June 19 -- Eminent Bengali author and Sahitya Akademi award winner Prafulla Roy passed away on Thursday at a private hospital in the city following prolonged illness. He was 91 years old.



According to sources in the family, Roy had been battling multiple age-related ailments and had been hospitalised since March due to severe breathing issues but his condition had deteriorated in recent weeks.



A widower, Roy is survived by two daughters.
