Queensland, Nov. 29 -- Australian police has charged a 31-year-old woman with arson for lighting a fire that destroyed part of a Covid-19 quarantine hotel in Cairns, Queensland.

According to a report by BBC, it is alleged she lit a fire under a bed in the room she had been sharing with two children on Sunday morning.

No one was injured in the incident.

About 160 people were evacuated from the 11-storey Pacific Hotel.

ChannelNewsAsia quoted Acting chief superintendent Chris Hodgman as saying the woman was in custody and police were caring for her children.

The woman had been in quarantine for past couple of days and was having issues with the authorities, he added.
