Galle, Feb. 9 -- Australia defeated Sri Lanka by nine wickets on the fourth day of the second Test match here on Sunday, securing a 2-0 clean sweep in the two-Test series. Resuming at 211 for eight, Sri Lanka managed to add just six runs to their overnight total before Nathan Lyon struck, dismissing Kusal Mendis (50) to claim Australia's ninth wicket. Beau Webster then removed Lahiru Kumara (9) to bundle out Sri Lanka's second innings for 231. Chasing a modest target of 75 runs, Australia reached the target comfortably in 17.4 overs, losing just one wicket.
