Rio De Janeiro, June 13 -- Atletico Mineiro extended its unbeaten league run to eight games with a 2-0 home win over Internacional in Brazil's Serie A championship.
Defender Vitao scored an early own goal to hand the hosts the lead before Junior Santos sealed the result with a stoppage-time strike on Thursday.
The victory lifted Atletico to seventh in the 20-team standings, while Internacional slipped to 17th, nine points behind. Atletico has not lost in the top flight since a 2-0 defeat at Santos on April 16.
Meanwhile, Argentine striker Pablo Vegetti continued his prolific scoring form as Vasco da Gama won 3-1 at Sao Paulo.
